The space
In april 2015, we moved into a former elementary school after three years of hard work. With a group of friends, we purchased and renovated this 100-year old building into beautiful, spacious, comfortable and very 'green' apartments. The building still has its unique old features, including the high ceilings, and wide staircase, and terracotta floors in the hallway, but is equipped with very good insulation (including triple glass), high-tech heating systems, solar panels on the roof, and more to ensure we produce as much energy as we need. This area in Amsterdam is one of the most upcoming neighbourhoods, with a large variety of interesting restaurants and bars, boutique shops showcasing the best of Amsterdam design (it would be difficult not to find an appropriate gift or unique souvenir). Within 100 meters we have the recently opened "De Hallen", which is an industrial building hosting a food plaza, great shops, art, a very good cinema called 'Filmhallen' and bars. It can be a bit crowded as it's the place to go at this moment in Amsterdam.

There are supermarkets (Albert Heijn, Dirk van den Broek, Marqt en Bilder en de Clerq) around the corner and the daily ‘Ten Kate market’ as well. If you prefer to walk to the center, it will take you about 10 minutes to the Jordaan, including the ‘9 straatjes’, the canals or 20 minutes to the Vondelpark or Westerpark (which we prefer over Vondelpark).
