Grachtengordel-West, or Canal Belt West, is a picturesque sweep of 17th-century waterways lined with gabled townhouses, many containing boutique hotels, upscale restaurants and bars. Anne Frank House, the WWII hiding place of the young diarist, is now a museum, overlooked by the tower of the Dutch Renaissance Westerkerk church. The nearby Negen Straatjes, or "Nine Streets," and "Jordaan" neighborhoods are home to many fashion boutiques, (coffee) bars, and restaurants.
