Schellingwoude is a former Fishing-village in the Northern part of Amsterdam. The Monumental Dike is situated between meadows, park and the IJ, with the City Centre just at the other side of the water. Various (sustainable/organic) grocery stores, supermarkets and bakeries are at walking distance.

A perfect area for cycling, Marken and Volendam are a 30 minute bike-ride along the dike, Edam and Monnikendam are at the distance of an hour by bike through beautiful meadows with horses, cows and sheep. One can have a break or High Tea in one of the authentic Cafes or a glass of biological milk, or biological ice-cream in a farm on the way.
