Romantic ‘Aft Cabin’ on Board of an Icebreaker

Please be welcome on our unique houseboat, a former East-German icebreaker, tug, pusher and fire boat built in 1954. We ourselves live in the front part, the aft cabin – the former crew bunks - we converted into a cozy little studio with a vintage feel. The wooden interior gives a warm ambience, and the acoustics are great. A beautiful, clean place to work or to rest, to relax or to make music in.

The space
The aft cabin is an independent apartment with a lockable front door. Inside, you find a kitchenette, separate bathroom with shower and toilet, and of course a nice and spacey bed, comfortable seats and enough closet space. There is WiFi, a small (no smart) TV and central heating that you can control yourself. All windows can be opened and are provided with plisse curtains and insect screens.

The Borneo-island is a peninsula in the Eastern Harbour District. An area known for its architecture and urban planning. You can take beautiful walks in a decor of history, contemporary architecture and typical Dutch harbour landscape.
15-20 minutes from the busy city center you will find peace and wide views over the water. Children still play on the streets because there is little traffic. When the weather is nice residents quickly come outside to sit on the sidewalks with a drink and a bite, having a chat with their neighbors. It is a jovial and cosy neighborhood where it’s still normal to great each other. In summertime people cool down in and on the water, with a SUP (which you can rent down the block), canoes and small boats, and of course it's wonderful to take a swim in the natural water, and the cold water lovers even swim whole year round.
