Today, it's a lively mix of indie bookstores, student hangouts, and traditional brown cafés, often called the intellectual heart of Amsterdam. You're within a 10-minute walk of Dam Square, the Anne Frank House, and the Jordaan district, while Central Station is just five minutes away for day trips.
