Modern apartment in typical Amsterdam canal house

This modern two-bedroom apartment on the Nieuwe Prinsengracht is a top pick for couples or small families who want an authentic canal house experience without sacrificing contemporary comforts. Sleeping up to four guests, the 70 m² third-floor rental blends sleek interiors with classic Amsterdam charm, featuring an indoor fireplace for cozy evenings and a private balcony overlooking the water. The open-plan living and kitchen area is ideal for relaxed city mornings before heading out to explore. With a 5.0 rating from 55 reviews, it’s a well-loved base for travelers who value location, cleanliness, and a touch of luxury. Standout amenities include canal views, fast WiFi, and thoughtful essentials like shampoo and a hairdryer, making packing lighter and stays smoother. While the nightly price of €394 reflects its premium position in Centrum-Oost, the apartment’s quiet side-canal setting offers a peaceful retreat steps from the lively Plantage and Jewish Cultural Quarter. Note there is no elevator, so be prepared for stairs typical of historic canal buildings.

Centrum-Oost places you on the eastern edge of Amsterdam’s canal belt, where the energy of the city center meets leafy, cultural pockets. You’re a short walk from Artis Zoo, the Hortus Botanicus, and the Dutch Resistance Museum, while the lively Utrechtsestraat offers cafes, boutiques, and restaurants. The Nieuwe Prinsengracht itself is a quieter branch of the main canal ring, perfect for strolls along the water or renting a bike to explore further. Tram lines nearby connect you to Central Station and Museumplein in under 15 minutes, giving you easy access to the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank House, and the Jordaan without the constant tourist crush.
