About this stay

This beautiful canal house is a charming place conveniently located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Canal District near 'Het IJ'. The estuary where during the Golden Age, merchandise and spices were supplied and stored from all corners of the world.

The canal house is situated within walking distance of the main museums, popular shopping areas, and historic landmarks.

The house is just renovated and geüpgraded in January 2022.

The space
The interior is a cosy home with a spacious living room near-by the booming locations of Amsterdam.

The apartment is situated in an old, characteristic 17th century building that is officially listed as monument.

Relaxation at home:
When it's raining or if you're dreading yet another trip through the bustle of restaurants of all nationalities, you can play chef de cuisine yourself at the kitchen unit at home in the apartment.
The supermarkets are, so to speak, left and right

Neighbourhood

The apartment is located in the city center of Amsterdam. It only takes 5 minutes by foot to arrive to the Waterloopsquare.
It’s 15 minutes walking to the Red light district and the famous Rembrandtsquare. 20 minutes walking to the Central station.
At the Waterloopsquare and Rembrandtplein you find the nearest supermarkets, shops, pubs, coffeeshops and restaurants.
Also in the direct area of the house you can find some nice bars and restaurants.

The nearby Foeliestraat reminds us of the latter, a spice that has been loved since the Middle Ages and is better known as nutmeg. Walk with us through the area.

In the 19th century, the neighborhood was a refuge for Jews who had fled the pogroms in Eastern Europe. They had already been preceded by Sephardic Jews who had been expelled from Spain and Portugal since 1492. The Portuguese synagogue is still a reminder of them, which for a long time was considered the largest synagogue in the world.
