About this museum
Step into the timeless world of Delft Blue at the Royal Delft Museum, the last remaining 17th-century earthenware factory still producing the iconic pottery by hand. Witness master painters meticulously decorating ceramics, a tradition upheld since 1653. The recently renovated museum rooms, reopened in March 2025, offer an immersive journey through 370 years of Delftware history. In 2026, as Delft celebrates "The Robots Are Coming" theme year, the museum also embraces innovation with its new Innovation Gallery, showcasing how robotics intersects with this historic craft, including Royal Delft's own painting robot.
Beyond the permanent collection, discover the vibrant temporary exhibition "Urban Blue – from Bricks to Tiles," running from March 7 to August 23, 2026, which explores the fascinating fusion of Delft Blue with contemporary street art. Your visit includes an insightful audio tour available in eight languages, enhancing your understanding of the craftsmanship and history. The museum is generally open Monday to Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended hours from April 1 to May 15 (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM). Please note early closures at 4:00 PM on December 24 and 31, and full closures on December 25, 26, and January 1. Admission is €17.50 for adults, €7.50 for children aged 7-12, and free for children up to 6. Students with a valid ID pay €11.50, and holders of a Museum Card, Rotterdam Pass, Ooievaars Pass, or ICOM card enjoy free entry. Consider booking tickets online to guarantee your visit.
