The museum is open from 10:30 to 17:00, with the ticket office closing at 16:30. Following its winter break, the 2026 season commenced on the Easter weekend of April 4, 5, and 6. From April 4 until September 27, 2026, the museum operates every weekend. Enjoy approximately 30-minute train rides, with the steam train departing hourly and an antique diesel train following about 10 minutes after the steam train's arrival. General admission is €13.50 for adults and €10.50 for children aged 4-12, while children 0-3 years old and Museumkaart holders enjoy free entry. Your ticket grants all-day access to both the indoor and outdoor museums, including unlimited train rides.

Located at J. Pellenbargweg 1, 2235 SP Valkenburg ZH, the museum is easily accessible by car, situated along the A44 motorway near Leiden. Ample free parking is usually available on-site. Should the main lot be full, additional free parking can be found opposite the Kwantumhallen at Voorschoterweg 45-47, just a 5-minute walk away. For those using public transport, bus line 43 offers a direct connection from Leiden Centraal and Den Haag Centraal stations, with buses running every half hour. Disembark at the "Valkenburgse Meer" stop, from which the museum is a short walk across the parking area.

The museum officially reopened for its 2026 season during the Easter weekend, after a period of winter maintenance and improvements. Throughout the season, from April 4 to September 27, 2026, visitors can enjoy the full museum experience every weekend. Special events may require advance booking and might have an additional surcharge.
