About this museum
Step into the heroic world of firefighting at the Nationaal Brandweermuseum in Hellevoetsluis, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026! Housed in two former naval buildings dating back to 1786, the museum boasts one of Europe's largest and most unique collections of firefighting equipment, tracing the history of fire and disaster response in the Netherlands from primitive tools of 1550 to modern-day apparatus. Explore an impressive array of fire pumps and vehicles, including legendary machines like the 1927 Ahrens-Fox and a luxurious Italian Fiat, all showcasing nearly 500 years of innovation. Children can enjoy a themed scavenger hunt and a dedicated play area with climbable engines and toy trucks.
The museum welcomes visitors for its 2026 season from April 3rd to October 25th, operating Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 to 16:00, including during official school holidays. Group visits outside these times, from November to March, are available by appointment. Admission is €12.50 for adults and €6.50 for children aged 4-12, with free entry for those 0-3 years old. Museumkaart and Rotterdampas holders, as well as active and youth firefighters from all 25 Dutch regions (with proof), also enjoy free admission. One attendant per disabled person is admitted free of charge. Please note, the museum does not accept €100 or €200 banknotes for cash payments, and discount promotions cannot be combined.
Located at Industriehaven 8, 3221 AD Hellevoetsluis, the museum offers free parking on-site.
