About this museum
The Marie Tak Van Poortvliet Museum in Domburg celebrates the rich artistic heritage of this charming coastal town, focusing on classical modern art and the renowned artists' colony that flourished here. Named after art collector Marie Tak van Poortvliet (1871-1936), the museum occupies a replica of the historic art hall that once showcased works by luminaries such as Jan Toorop and Piet Mondriaan, who were drawn to Domburg's unique "Zeeland light" in the early 20th century.
Plan your visit easily, as the museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00. Admission is €7.50 for adults, with free entry for Dutch Museum Card and ICOM holders, and children up to 12 years. Groups of 10 or more pay €6.00 per person, and guided tours of the exhibition are available for €50 per group (maximum 10 people), excluding the entrance fee. Consider joining the cultural-historical walk of Domburg every Wednesday for €15 per person, which includes a booklet "In het licht van Toorop en Mondriaan." The museum is fully wheelchair accessible and includes a disabled toilet.
Reaching the museum is straightforward: the nearest train station is in Middelburg, offering hourly intercity connections to Amsterdam. If traveling by car, be aware that paid parking is in effect from March 1 to October 31; a free daytime parking lot is conveniently located at Sportpark Oosterloo on Roosjesweg, just a 10-minute walk from the museum.
