Honig Breethuis

About this museum

Step back in time at the Honig Breethuis in Zaandijk, a beautifully preserved museum offering a unique glimpse into the opulent lives of affluent Zaan River families during the 18th and 19th centuries. Explore meticulously furnished rooms and discover the rich history of this region, providing a fascinating contrast to the industrial heritage often associated with the Zaanstreek. It's an intimate experience that transports you to a bygone era of Dutch prosperity and domestic life.

Planning your visit is straightforward. The museum welcomes guests Friday through Sunday from 13:00 to 16:00. Admission is €7.50 for adults, €4.00 for youth aged 13-17, and free for children aged 4-12. Entry is also free with a valid Dutch Museumkaart. Please note the museum is closed on the First and Second Day of Christmas, New Year's Eve and Day, and King's Day (April 27th), but opens on Easter Monday and Whit Monday.

Reaching the Honig Breethuis is convenient, whether you're coming from Amsterdam or exploring the Zaanse Schans. A train ride to Koog-Zaandijk station takes about 20 minutes from Amsterdam, followed by a pleasant 10-minute walk through the charming historic streets of Zaandijk. Alternatively, if you're already at Zaanse Schans, it's just a short stroll across the Zaan River. While parking is available nearby, be mindful that local streets can be narrow, so public transport or walking is often recommended.
