Czaar Peterhuis

About this museum

Step back in time at the Czaar Peterhuis in Zaandam, a modest wooden house that offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of Peter the Great during his influential stay in the Netherlands. Explore the historic rooms and the recently renovated garden, which serves as a vibrant setting for special events. In 2026, look forward to a musical afternoon on Sunday, June 28, featuring "Luck Leghorn & The Money Men" with their blend of country, western, and Americana, or join a Keti Koti gathering for families on Sunday, July 5, celebrating themes of freedom, heritage, and remembrance.

Plan your visit Tuesday through Sunday, from 10:00 to 17:00. The museum is closed on Mondays, December 25th, and January 1st. Admission for adults is €7, while children aged 4-17, seniors (65+), students, and CJP holders pay €3.50; children under 4 enter free. Entry is complimentary for holders of an I Amsterdam Card or Museum Card. Please note that only debit or credit card payments are accepted at the museum.

The Czaar Peterhuis is conveniently located in the heart of Zaandam. From Zaandam railway station, it's approximately a 15-minute walk through the town center. If arriving from Amsterdam Central Station, take bus number 392 or 394 to the Gedempte Gracht bus stop, just a few minutes' walk from the museum. For those driving, parking facilities are available at the Rozenhof or Zaantheater multi-storey car parks, both a short stroll away. You'll find the museum nestled at the end of Krimp, making it an easy addition to your Zaandam exploration.
